Welcome to the Wildhorse!
Wildhorse Golf Club, a municipally-owned facility in Henderson, is one of the most popular tee times in Las Vegas. Locals return again and again to play this intriguing, challenging and fun layout that is known for its good value. The course appeals to players of all skill levels looking for a bargain. Golf has been played on this site since 1959, when it was one of the first golf courses in Southern Nevada. Howard Hughes owned the course for a time and in the early 1970s it hosted the PGA Tour s Sahara Invitational. Over the years the club has probably undergone more name changes than any other course in Nevada, but since 1994 it’s been called Wildhorse Golf Club.
In 2004, course architects Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley revitalized the playing field with a stunning redesign. Wildhorse Golf Club, a par-70 layout with four sets of tee markers that range from 4,995 yards to 6,525 yards, is a traditional rather than target-style course. Though houses ring the property, the interior of the golf grounds is distraction-free and features pine and palm lined fairways and several shimmering lakes. Water factors into play on four holes on the front nine of Wildhorse Golf Club and three holes on the back nine. Natural desert areas infringe on the fast and firm fairways, adding to the challenge of the round even as they form an attractive contrast with the lush irrigated turf. Views of the distant mountains add still more aesthetic appeal.
Wildhorse Golf Club is a fairly flat playing field. It is one of the few Las Vegas-area courses that you can walk. One of the standout holes is the par-3 4th, a long par 3 with water trailing all the way up the right side and pinching in at the front right of the green. With two lakes ominously hugging opposite sides of the fairway, the par-4 9th has earned a reputation for being one of the toughest holes in all of Las Vegas. You’d better hit it straight on the 9th. The club s greens are large and moderately undulating.
Wildhorse Golf Club has long been recognized as an Audubon International Cooperative Sanctuary for its environmental consciousness and stewardship. It is one of only seven such courses in Nevada. The practice facilities, which are conveniently located near the clubhouse, include a natural turf driving range, chipping area and putting green. On the second floor of the clubhouse you’ll find a low-key restaurant and bar. Located just 15 to 20 minutes from The Strip, the conveniently located Wildhorse Golf Club is an ever-popular, fun and affordable tee time option in Las Vegas.
